After the YouTube purchase by Google, many websites have been hoping for a huge payday. One of the largest of which is Digg they are reportedly looking for someone to pay up with $150 million, but may have to settle for much less. No news from whether or not Google will pay, but they are apparently planning on selling Digg before the year closes.

A lot of money for a website. What’s so special about YouTube? There are many other video sites such as Metacafe, GoogleVideo, and others. So why is YouTube so important? Well I believe that Google paid this much because they knew that they would recieve lots of “hype” about the purchase. And some people who have never gone to YouTube would think “Wow almost 2 bil that must be a great site.” Then they would visit YouTube, think it was cool, and pass it on to other people. According to The New York Times, only 2% of the population watched online videos. So, with this purchase the market will expand.
