Control your Games Mentally

Haven't you always wanted to  put on your nifty electrode embedded helmet and start up a game of pong with one of your colleagues. Well soon you can! A company called g.tec has invented a prototype of this software/hardware that will allow you to do tasks on a computer.  I would personally love to have one of these cause it'd just be so awesome to throw on a helmet and play some new exciting game like pong for endless hours. But unless your too lazy to move your fingers or your Stephen Hawking and are disabled by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, this won't help you on homework. Meaning that you cannot type essays within seconds or do homework within minutes. You cannoth control you computer with this helmet as of yet but hopefully this will be included in a future revision.

So to recap, does not work for work, but it looks deliciously fun.

Xbox 360 v.s. PS3 Has Anyone Won Yet?

Xbox 36 v.s. PS3

This war between consoles has been going on for a while now (read: 4 Months) and many are wondering whether or not a winner has been decided. You could include the Wii in this war but I find that it is in a separate new class of casual gaming and semi-physical gaming. Anyways the Xbox 360 having been out for a much longer time has obviously sold much more consoles but by comparing their numbers at lauch you can somewaht predict a winner. The Xbox 360, launched November 2005, sold 325,902 in the first month of its launch. The PS3 on the other hand only sold 195,000 units in the first onth of launch. That is a huge gap. Also during the PS3 launch the Xbox 360 sold 511,000. You could balme this on the bad production management of the PS3 but the Xbox 360 had the same problem at launch so that claim really is not valid. This would mean we could declare a winner in the first round but the second round is blazing forward with PS3 shortages still rampant to my knowledge and Xbox 360 being bought more and more. The Xbox 3660 being bought more an more could be becuase the people that wnated the PS3 were turned away by the price or by the shortages. We'll have to see how it plays out in the future. With a possible Xbox 360 Version 2 and the Fall 2007 Title Halo 3 coming, Sony had better have something up its sleeve to counteract all of those sales that those options will bring.

Wii News Channel Up and Running

Wii News ChannelThe Wii News channel that has long been unavailabe is now finally out and downloadable through a Wii Update. The previous rumors that it costs money have been snuffed as it is completely free. They have created a 3D globe similar to the Weather Channel on the Wii and they have stuck small thumbnails of news above each city. It actually looks very nice once you get into it. Those were the pros and now for the cons. The Wii only picks up certain categories of articles from the Associated Press. There seems to be no way to change which feeds you want picked up as of now but hopefully that will be an update.

What Wii all expected

Sorry for the pun, but it was absolutely impossible to dodge. Anyways, the Wii has been out since November 19 and has certainly started much dispute. As wii all know, this is the first console of its type that actually perceives movement of the remote, and it is a much coveted item. It is able to connect to Nintendo DS’s, the internet, and it even has parental controls. I believe that this item will be purchased much more than Nintendo expected and may even become the new “must have” device. Although the Call of Duty 3 multiplayer does not work for this console. Way to go Activision!

CoD : 3 “A gift in disguise”

Just this week Call of Duty 3 has come out. Now ever since Call of Duty 1 came out I have been enjoying it switching back inforth from Finest Hour, United Offensive, CoD1, and CoD2. I was delighted when I saw a commercial telling me that the third game in the series was released, but after checking it on Wikipedia I was dismal. Activision will not release the came for PC. Now, I have no clue why, but I am sure that if it was on PC they would have a greater profit. So, you can buy this game if you want it, but I shall boycott it. Heres a picture.

PS3 Friend or Foe?

Well, the PS3 was released last night at 12 and like most large releases, there were a bunch of fools camping outiside of the stores for days just to get their hands on this. I think that is absurd to waste like 3 or more days outside of a store so u can get a game machine, but I know exactly what they are feeling. One day when I was like 12 or something, the GameBoy Advanced was released and I waited outside of Fry’s for 30 minutes! I actually got the GameBoy and it was worth waiting outside, but it was not worth getting shot over. Apparently some people think that the PS3 is though. This is a picture of someone opening the store doors somewhere in New York I believe,

You may think “oh thats just a bunch of people running for a door thats not so bad,” but the injuries are for worse than just a couple of trampled feet. There have been riots, shootings, beatings, and robberies over this small shiny computing box.

The PS3

The PlayStation 3 has been a long awaited release. Ever since the PS2 was released people were thinking about it. It has also been flooded with contraversy, the early images of it depicted an odd looking boomarang controller. Sony later decided to revert to the older easier to use style. And most importantly, the cost. The cost of this powerfull beast is driving must suspected buyers away. The PS1 and PS2 started out at around $200 (so did most of the other consoles), however this is estimated to cost roughly 3 times that much. But to the informed shopper, the price may seem low. The main reason for the high cost is the Blu-Ray reader. Blu-Ray is a HD High quality DVD. Currently the Blu-Ray readers on the market cost over $1000. The PS3 seems like a bargain compared to those, plus if you buy the PS3 you recieve the ability to play great games have HDMI and 1080p. And don’t forget, its released on November 11th.

Nyko Intercooler: Burning up the Scene

10.26.06---intercoolerissue.jpg

Amid various reports of X360’s heating up, randomly shutting down and ultimately needing repairs, Nyko released their Intercooler. The positive effects of this device were questionable but it provided some peace of mind for 360 owners. Yet recently, a new study came out that showed that the Intercooler may actually heat up your 360 as it uses the power that is required by the system to run the fans inside the console. Some have also noticed spots of yellow discoloration on the outside of the console. If this happens to you, you’re screwed as you can’t get Xbox 360 repairs if you use 3rd party hardware. Way to go Nyko!

To Wii or not to Wii?

photo_controller.jpg

Well with Nintendo’s latest console just around the corner (November 19) and rave reviews everywhere, it seems like the Wii may be the hit of the holiday season. Coming in significantly cheaper than both the 360 and the PS3, it could be flying off the store shelves. While all this is fine and dandy and the newspapers all seem to support it, what do teenagers think? Personally, I don’t think many will find it fun to wave their arms around for hours on end manipulating their virtual character. After half an hour, I suspect many will be fatigued from all the arm action and stop playing. After the initial boom, I predict that the Wii controllers will be quickly overstocked as gamers avoid the numb arm syndrome that will be forever associated with the Wii. Will there be a new pack of gym rats working out in an attempt to play an hour of Twilight Princess? I think not. What about you?
